Aside from falling love with Portland, I enjoyed fabulous food and drink in Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. I did an amazing road trip from Draper, Utah […]
Famous for being the birthplace of Jazz, New Orleans, Louisiana is wonderful, one-of-a-kind destination. “In the late 19th century, while the rest of America was stomping their feet to military marches, and New Orleans was dancing to VooDoo rhythms. New Orleans was the only place in the New World where slaves were allowed to own […]
My skin is thicker than you think I will survive our time in New Orleans Your kiss was never enough kiss Your fears were hurdles on our bliss The radiant brides of rue Dauphine The golden glare of tubas on the street The soulful singers and the sad bartenders at the Maple Leaf The Vegas […]
Some trips take longer to process, to really find within ourselves what it is we went looking for there, REALLY, as opposed to what we set out to achieve. I took several as yet unreported trips in 2015, and perhaps the most unreported one among them was my sejour in breathtaking Sedona. There were many peculiarities […]

Leaving Summerland – Montevideo-Seattle and beyond
When people heard I was coming to Seattle, some of my Uruguayan friends mentioned the music scene, but everyone mentioned the rain. I am going to disappoint all of them by saying that the music scene here is nothing to write home about, and neither is the rain
Ever since the Beatles first landed in America, British musicians have been trying to make it in the US with varying degrees of success. Born into a family of British musicians, Hayley Jane had many options before her when she decided to study at Boston’s Berklee College of Music , arguably one of the world’s […]

Nine fabulous things to do on a Spring Break cruise
I have been lucky to be able to do my fair share of traveling and cruising. Although I have never been much of a “tourist,” I have had many near-paradise experiences over the years. Much of my cruising was actually done during Spring Break, so, I came up with the idea of suggesting some fabulous […]

Romantic escapades – Fabulous places to fall in love
Lake Como “This shore of the lake is one continued village, and the Milanese nobility have their villas here. Shelley A favorite spot for the most celebrated Romantic […]
I visited Hilo many times. Every single time, it rained at some point. Meanwhile, when I sailed into the other side of the Big Island, the sun was always shining. Apparently, there is a scientific explanation for this, but I won´t go into that now. I remember two special times fondly. Once, my Canadian friends […]
Chicago travel – just for the music (First guest post ever! by Thomas Stone)
Who doesn’t know about the rich history of music from Chicago? Dixieland and Jazz ruled at the turn of thecentury, while the folk jams of the ’60s and the rugged rock of the ’80s and ’90s defined the nation’s, nay, the world’s tastes in their time. No matter who you are, and what you like, […]
The condo where my friend was staying looked exactly like TV´s serial killer cop “DEXTER,” which is actually set in Miami. The feeling of being in Dexter-land was augmented by the headline I read on a local magazine my friend had lying around: “Bigger guns, no permits needed, Page 10.”
The death of the common enemy – Obama and Osama´s head
Seeing Obama tell people to be happy because Osama had been killed felt exactly like one of those political meetings in 1984, where people enter into a hate frenzy against "the enemy."

Sting and the US Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl
What an experience, to see a 50-year old Sting, his vocal chords intact, in better shape than ever, accompanied by an amazing backup vocalist and a genius conductor leading a superb Phil. The arrangements were next to perfection, the song choices, made in heaven, the slim moon was shining over Hollywood, and one could ask for nothing more.
