Llamadas 2018 – Uruguayan Carnival Photo Blog

This year, I was planning to host a special dinner on one of the two days of Llamadas parade during the Uruguayan carnival. Unfortunately, a rain forecast caused the dates to be switched, and my dinner plans went bust, because I had to leave town on the newly scheduled date.

But on the first night of Llamadas I was actually home, so, I decided to go downstairs to take some photos and dance a little candombe. The drums kept sounding for hours after I returned home.

It was a short little llamada experience, but the drumming oddly lulled me to sleep that night, and it was grand.

The last picture is of myself, because well, I kind of dressed for the occasion…
